Equity Statement adopted November 2023:
As McDowell County individuals, we are committed to unifying our residents by respecting and acknowledging each other’s cultures and lived experiences. To build a stronger community we will continue to educate ourselves and others, by actively challenging historic systemic racial inequities and policies that still exist. It is a human right for all people of McDowell County, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sex, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, culture, or language, to live without fear and have equitable access to resources to establish a foundation of health and well-being.
St. John’s Episcopal Church is a small but vibrant spiritual Community with roots formed more than a Century ago. We are currently the only Episcopal church in McDowell County. We are also a fully inclusive community seeking to follow Christ's Way of Love. We invite you to join us in worship and mission, and make St. John’s your spiritual home.

Take a look through our site to find out more about our vibrant and ongoing ministries including the Martha T. Simmons Food Pantry, which serves over 120 local families every week, and the Pet Food Bank that helps feed over 100 animals twice monthly.

In 2023 St. John's became the charter organization for a newly formed Boy Scout Troop and Family Pack unit. See their page to find out more about their service to the McDowell community and how you can support these dedicated young people.

St. John's is an Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Western North Carolina. Episcopalians are part of the Worldwide Anglican Communion.
